There is a referendum on the ballot for North Carolina this election season that needs your attention.
It is a state constitutional amendment on voting rights and it is deliberately vague.

To quote Tim Cook on his social media post:
NC Voters – Please vote AGAINST this unnecessary and poorly written proposed Amendment.
It is already illegal for non-citizens to vote in NC.
The language “otherwise possessing the qualifications for voting” changes the NC Constitution and goes down a slippery slope where the right to vote depends on the whims of the General Assembly. Unnecessary, and dangerous.
Also, it’s just badly written. What they meant is 18 years or older. What they wrote was “who is 18” – which means, strictly speaking, this would ban anyone under OR over 18 from voting.

He’s exactly right. it creates a slippery slope and we have all seen what “logic” stems from the mouths of people in Raleigh who intentionally use slippery slopes to get what they want: fewer people voting.
